I saw this picture on my Twitter feed the other day and I thought ‘How clever.’ And then I thought ‘Wow! How can the NHS compete against such fast moving socially mobilised campaigning?’
I guess the answer is simple but hard. More and more NHS communications needs to shift to social media and digital content (oh and this may look like campaigning too).
Without this shift their engagement with stakeholders that they need to do is in danger of becoming irrelevant.
To do it managers will need the ability to move quickly and be able distribute engaging digital content. Unless they do this there is a risk that the national and local narratives are dominated by other organisations as opposed to ‘official’ spokespeople. This in itself raises many questions, like how, when, who and with what?
