Here’s the rub of it, by 2017 video will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic. Video on demand will almost have trebled.
In a couple of years (if not already) will people be reading about your consultation or watching it?
Online video is how people satisfy their curiosity for information, engage in hobbies and find out how to fix stuff. If you’re not integrating it into your consultation then there is a real and present danger that your work may be invisible, as more and more people find out about local issues from alternative (video friendly) sources. Facebook will only make this worse as its algorithm gives video priority and Twitter is going the same way – dare we mention Periscope?
So now is the time to start thinking about how you can create fast and affordable video content for your consultation. You need to be prepared to make video content to engage your stakeholders on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, Vine, Vimeo…(the list goes on).
There are many useful tools available (not just for video) and there are plenty of accessories available for your iPhone or iPad (other smart phones and tablets are available). There really is no excuse not to get started. Just do it!
